Metamorphosis

 

Metamorphosis is reminiscent of a 17th century Vanitas painting. This multi-media installation housed in an antique chest, examines the relationships between people, their material possessions and intimate domestic space.




Bachelard said ˜wardrobes with their shelves, desks with their drawers and chests with their false bottoms are veritable organs of the secret psychological life.."




The things that we collect, keepsakes, momento's or photographs represent a condensed history of our lives, they allow us to embark on a journey of the ˜inner kind, capturing and somehow embodying our memories.




This work explores transience, memory and the intrinsic power of the symbolic  in our everyday objects.
